Collection 100: Primary Source Photography.

Christkindelmarkt- the german market comes to Leeds in November for the festive season each year, with a variety of charming stalls selling traditional German produce (and carousel rides, naturally).

A late afternoon shot of a building (should probably find out what it houses!) by the train station at Leeds centre- a charming example of the varied and beautiful architecture that the city has to offer.

Ornamental gold owls are a key feature in and around Leeds city centre- particularly by the town hall and library- perhaps reflecting widsom and power in knowledge?

The beautiful interior architecture of the elite Victoria Quarter indoor shopping centre- boasting such brands as Vivienne Westwood, Harvey Nichols, and Agent Provocateur.

A plane overhead Millenium Square- direct for Bradford International Airport.

Leeds is flourishing with multiple cultures, races, creeds and nationalities, and offers a home to all religions- through sikh temples, islamic mosques, catholic churches, etc...

Jumbo Records- Undoubtedly one of the most characteristic and cult-based stores in Leeds- a must-stop visit for any avid record collector and music lover, and a personal favourite of mine.

With such a vast student population, the city is home to many passionate protesters- marching to support to backlash against the Government's plans to raise tution fees and to potentially close many educational institutions throughout the United Kingdom.

Police line, and barracade many of the streets in Leeds city centre.

Inside the dry dock- one of the most distinctive and charismatic pubs in Leeds- it is a boat after all!

One of my most treasured memories of Leeds- light night 2010, and an event in which the lower floor room in the Leeds City Museum was filled with balloons, each containing a written memory from a resident of Leeds (of their time in the city)- whilst we were encouraged to stamp on the balloons to reveal the note inside.
A beautifully poigant and exhilerating two minutes of my life!

The view of Leeds from my bedroom window (floor 11 of Opal 3 student accomodation tower) covered in snow as the winter months settle in.

A statue of Queen Victoria, over the Hyde Park gardens.

Winter flower in Hyde Park, Leeds- just a short walk from the city centre, the gardens are a hotspot for winter walks and summer picnics for residents of Leeds and tourists alike.

Bokeh illumination from the dodgems ride at the German Market, in Millenium Square.

The shop front display and distinctive mannequins of the Vivienne Westwood shop, Victoria Quarter.

A confectionary stall in the German Market, Millenium Sqaure.

The heritage and companies of Leeds- historical advertisements in Leeds City Museum.

The Police as the Student Protest against Student Fees rising, and other Political policies to be introduced by the Government- the peaceful protest travelled from the University of Leeds Parkison Building to the town hall- followed by many of the residents of Leeds, where many roads were closed off and manned by Police.

Practicing my self-portaiture on the first day of snow during my time in Leeds, at Hyde Park Gardens, 27/11/10.

Another self-portait, outside my student accomodation, Opal 3 tower- LS2 8BR.

A different sort of tiger(tiger)- one of the many weird and wonderful prizes available at the German market's "hoop-a-reindeer" game...
