Design Practice III//Negotiated Briefs//Order of Preference.


In light of the fact that when we return to Uni, we will be selecting a few briefs from our written ten (more information and research of which can be found on my Design Context blog, and my Design Practice blog for the written briefs in the next couple of weeks), and where I currently stand in terms of which briefs I feel would deliver the best results, maintain interest, and have a good amount of variation within my portfolio.

BRIEFS

1. Orange Juice 'Rip it Up' reunion tour 2013
Create branded promotional material for the hypothetical Orange Juice 'Rip it Up' 2013 reunion tour, utilising both printed and digital media to advertise the event, create a booking system for tickets, and to create printed memorabilia for the gig venues.

2. Urban beekeeping starter kit
Design a range of informative and practical branded materials for an urban beekeeping starter kit, working alongside beekeeping charities to promote the practice of beekeeping with an insightful and useful publication and range of tools.

3. BA (Hons) Surface Pattern & Textiles Degree Show Prospectus Book
Design the end of year degree show book in a collaborative competition brief to visually communicate the diversity among the design practice of the course is a professionally and high-end design.

4. Jessie Leong Photography Branding

Design a distinctive brand identity through both print and digital media to visually communicate the portfolio of student photographer, Jessie Leong, and to effectively advertise and promote her work for future University projects and potential client work.

5. James Maxwell Architectural Design Branding
Create a range of print and digital media to showcase the work of Interior Architecture student, James Maxwell for both future graduate shows and placement/employer communication in a high-end, professional and visually representative, consistent brand style.

6. Leeds College of Art Degree Show Branding

In a collaborative, competition brief, design the proposed branding for the Leeds College of Art University degree show to be used in a range of scales and formats in both print and digital media, as well as creating wayfinding and signage design for the degree show itself.

7. Lulu & the Lens Photography Branding
Create a consistent and diverse range of print and digital media to promote the photographic portfolio of Lulu Peddar, known as Lulu & the Lens to create a wider awareness and fan base for her work, as well as for future client employment potential.

8. Leeds University Student Union Ballet Society Branding
Design a range of printed and digital media to promote the Leeds University Ballet Society to members of the University as well as the public for performances throughout the year as held by the varying ability groups within the society, including promotional design, as well as branded clothing and prospectuses for the group.

9. Chris Luk Animation Branding
Design a range of both printed and digital design media to promote the design practice of student Animator, Chris Luk, and to effectively communicate his unique and professional- standard portfolio to a range of potential clients as well as future placements/employers throughout the UK and abroad.

10. Faber & Faber Typographic Book Cover Series Design(s)
Design a range of typographically- inspired book covers for the Faber & Faber film series books, including designing a consistent retail environment in which the books are sold, as well as promotional materials in both print and digital formats.
