Design Production for Print//Foil Blocking.

Today I booked in a session to have a heat press induction (for health and safety college purposes- though I was lucky enough to be quite familiar with them specialising in illustration and surface pattern design at college) in order to experiment with some foil blocking. Going down in the morning to see James in print to retain a greyscale laser copy print of work to transfer the foil onto, I was very dissapointed when it didn't bind (the laser ink combines with the heat to act as a binder between the foil), particularly when the tutors had no clues as to why it wasn't happening. Despite this draw back, I hope to go on and make more attempts next week (perhaps printing a digital copy and combining with binding solution- not ideal combining more liquid materials- but it might be worth an experiment), or, at very least, propose this in my final presentation boards,
if deemed necessary.
Really interesting to find that they also stock transparent foils (I was just using free scraps for this test)- presumably creating a spot UV-like effect? Need to try it asap!
