As a group, we went out to practice one of our April Fools' practical jokes- to assure ourselves that they work as a form of primary research. We decided to try out the 'money doesn't grow on pavements' trick- sticking a pound coin to the pavement, and casually looking on to see which passers-by attempting to pick it up from the street.
Sat in a busy communal area around Leeds University student union, we placed the pound coin on seating level- and in our half an hour we notice two people attempt to pick up the pound, though more imporantly learnt a few pointers and tips to perhaps add to our product to help the success rating for our April Fools' pranks. In this situation a few negative factors included:
-High density of students (people may be embaressed to pick money up in front of others?)
-Distractions (a large sound system to the left may have distracted people's attention)
-Lack of secretiveness (with five of us squeezed onto one bench, it may have looked like we were up to no good!)
Definate considerations for practicing our pranks- sneakiness is the key!
