Design Practice II//Product/Range/Distribution//NEW brief.
In reflection of my brief and feedback/crit session yesterday, I have decided to re-write my brief. Although many of the elements are kept the same, I want to give my designs a little more focus and meaning (to help solve my proposed problems), and therefore have decided upon creating a promotional campaign to encourage children to read throughout the United Kingdom.
//
TITLE
Grimm's Fairy Tales, "200 books for 200 schools"
BRIEF
Create a promotional reading campaign throughout the United Kingdom for children aged 9-11 (Educational years 5 and 6) entitled "200 books for 200 schools" by Puffin/Penguin publishing.
To celebrate 200 years of Grimm's Fairy Tales, 200 books and reading packs will be distributed to children throughout the United Kingdom to encourage independent reading and creative writing.
BACKGROUND/CONSIDERATIONS
Consider my target audience, and what will visually appeal to them, as well as the parents and schools that the campaign will be promoted to. Combine a mixture of print and screen-based devices which will help to create a substantial, well-rounded brief and design outcomes.
Also propose that the campaign be run out throughout other book series for children to extent upon the proposed reading scheme, with other classic children's books such as 'Treasure Island', 'The Secret Garden', etc.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Produce an extensive body of research into the history of Grimms Fairy Tales and the illustrative and typographic ways that the stories have been visually communicated throughout the 200 years of Grimms publishing.
Research schools within the United Kingdom to create a proposed campaign/scheme list.
Produce a range of designs and experiment with various methods of delivery, stocks, etc.
DELIVERABLES
Produce a range of promotional/marketing print and screen-based designs for the '200 books for 200 schools' campaign within the United Kingdom, to encourage 9-11 year olds to read independently, and to inspire creativity and imagination through classic fiction.
Produce a reading scheme pack for children:
1 x Presentation folder (for contents)
1 x Grimm's Fairy Tale book
1 x Progress planner (space for both child and parent to write a personal diary about their thoughts about the book, key interests, etc)
1 x Bookmark
1 x Letter for parents (to engage with the campaign)
Create a range of promotional posters to be shown throughout schools (receptions, classrooms, libraries, etc)
Create online/screen based media information for parents about the reading scheme, and how it can be encouraged.
