Now we have specified our logo/typeface and the colour palette we are using, I have gone on to start experimenting with some basic packaging designs (still a lot more work that needs to be done!) and potential layouts we could use for the Working Lunch range.
Tried working with the outline stroke as opposed to the fill- just to try out a different style of icon- although a VERY crude design, I don't think that it works as well in balance to the flooding/reversing out of colours.
One of our main ideas in terms of visual outcomes is to have the set colour palette of 5 different autumnal tones varying from a light beige/cream to a rich, warm red- therefore, we could ensure that the outside of the box could be kept relatively formal but with the flooded colour on the inside, it could be vibrant and eye-catching, whilst still kept contemporary, modern and minimal (the style we find most appropriate for the campaign and our visual outcomes).
Adding a more defined layout to the box panels (though, still, as previously mentioned, very simple- not in accordance to the net...which I am vectoring right now...) it definitely looked more contemporary than the usual nutritional information labelling you would find, and hopefully will still be visually engaging, as well as informative.
Not too sure about the design mind- packaging is something I've not got very much experience with- definitely need Charlie's second opinion (hopefully I can get it soon so I can move on with it as soon as possible!).
I went on to apply a similar layout and design for the outside lid of the box- and I feel that the minimalism works quite well in this instance (the white band signifies the cellophane wrap- potentially printed white- is this possible? Research...), still looking formal and with simple pictogram detail and information. Might need a bit more- though works consistently as a "brand" packaging design. The colours, which I experimented with in Photoshop last week, looked a little bit garish in my opinion. Still lots more work to be done.
* NOTE TO SELF... maybe a little worried it looks plain as personal delivery doesn't require an address on it, as the standard Graze boxes have? Could I add anything more?
