Design Practice III//Contact From The Natural History Museum.

A few days ago, I received a reply from the administration at The Natural History Museum in regards to a honeybee/hive photographic request I had originally sent to the wildlife department to help support my FreeBees Honey Project. 

Despite since dismissing the project at this point of the year (and within the Design Practice III module), it was great to hear back from the museum, and despite the £60 admin fee being a little pricey at this point (considering it would be used for student, and not commercial use), it was really interesting to find out about the potential opportunity for future projects and contact, and something I will certainly keep in mind.

Design Practice III//Negotiated Briefs//Urban Beekeeping.

Throughout the past couple of days, working on Design Context research and putting together my initial briefs and rationales for my selected briefs for Design Practice III, I've faced a few difficulties with a few of my decisions, particularly with the chosen Urban Beekeeping brief.

Research more into the practice of Urban Beekeeping, I can foresee a lot of difficulties within the briefs, particularly the cost of starter kits, which I have proposed to brand (starting at around $250). Therefore, I have decided to alter the brief slightly, and propose a packaging brief for a selection of honey products and recipe book, with the profits to go towards a leading bee charity within the UK (yet to be selected).

Adding a little more variation to my briefs with a packaging design project, this will still allow me to work with branding, editorial and sustainable/ethical design, which is what I aspire to specialise in with my future design practice.

Really excited to start the brief as soon as possible, along with my written brief, rationale, and conceptual research development.
