Research Developments and Analysis.


-Inquire into;
-Systematic investigation to establish facts.
-Attempt to find out in a systematicaaly and scientific manner.
-Inquiry: a search for knowledge;

-Research is an active, dilligent and systematic process of inquiry in order to discover, interpret or revise facts, events, behaviours, or theories, or to make practical applications with the help of such facts, laws or theories. The term "research" is also used to describe the collection of information about a particular subject.

-Research means a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to...knowledge.

-A careful hunting for facts or truth about a subject; inquiry; investigation.

-The systematic investigation into, and the study of materials, sources etc in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.

-Dilligent and thorough inquiry and investigation into a subject. This includes using ALL appropriate print and electronics sources, asking the reference librarians for help, and making use of bibliographies given by other authors.

-Information already collected for general needs, such as census data. Readily available in published form.

-The process of collecting information and data about a topic being studied.

-Research activity primarily involes the new discovery of knowledge that was not previously known or understood, or the development of a new organization or structure of known material that provides a new understanding about the subject matter.



Definitions of information.


-A message recieved and understood.
-Data: a collection of facts from which conclusions may be drawn.
-Knowledge acquired through study or experience or instruction.
-Formal accusation of a crime.

-Information is the result of processing, manipulation and organizing data in a way that adds to the knowledge of the person recieving it.
-Data that has been processed to add or create meaning and hopefully knowledge for the person who recieves it. Information is the output of information systems.
-Information should be sufficient, competent, relevant and useful (420.01.2).
-That which is extracted from a compilations of data in response to a specific need.
-A measure of how surprising something is.
-Organized data which is understood to have significance and meaning.
-"Data, text, images, sounds, codes, computer programmes, software, databases, or the like" (Minnesota Statutes, selection 325L.02).
-Data that have been processed and presented in a form suitable for human interpretation, often with the purpose of revealing trends or patterns.
-Often used very broadly to encompass all ideas, facts, and imaginative works; can also be used to mean a single data element. Whole volumes have been written in the effort to define it satisfactorily.
-Any communication or representation of knowledge such as facts, data, or opinions in any medium or form, including textual, numerical, graphic, catographic, narrative, or audiovisual forms (OMB Circular A-130).
-Is organized data that has been arranged for better comprehension or understanding. What is one person's information can become another person's data.
