Moustaches: Opinions and Surveying.

After gathering several views of moustaches, I have been able to gather further opinions, and, therefore, statistics...

Moustaches: Yay or Nay?

Yay: IIIIIIIIIII (11)
Nay: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (18)

Although the opinions don't differ too greatly, there's certainly a swing towards the moustache loathing as oppossed to the loving...through my project this will certainly have to be ammended!

I then went on to ask several friends and members of my family two moustache-related questions which were:

1. Do you think a man looks better with a moustache?

and

2. What is your favourite type of moustache?

Here are the responses...

1.Better, most of the time.
2. Handlebar.

1. Better.
2. Handlebar.

1. Better.
2. Stubbly/"unshaven but not lazily left".

1. Better.
2. "the ones where they flick out at the end".

1. Better (If the man is over 50!)
2. Thick handlebar.

1. Better or worse, dependent on the face!
2. "stubbly"

1. Both better and worse- dependent on the facial structure
2. Toothbrush style- as seen on Charlie Chaplin, etc.

1. Generally worse.
2. Super Mario style!

1. Worse.
2. Handlebar.

1. Worse.
2. No favourites (clearly a moustache hater...).

1. Dependant on the man's face.
2. Rurual Mexican/Nick Cave style handlebar!

1. Worse.
2. Fu Manchu

1. Better
2. Natural, unstyled.

and perhaps my favourite quote from the whole surveying, came from friend Joscelin Fred Dent-Pooley...

"Without moustaches, walruses would just be seals without tusks."

I couldn't have put it better myself.

In conclusion, it would appear that there is no real fixed idea as to the "right" or "proper" etiquette, though, generally, there are more disliked than liked.

Points of notice will include:

*How to increase the popularity of moustaches.
*How to draw people's attentions to the variety of styles available with growing a moustache (as handlebar proved to be the most common and popularly mentioned)
*How to make moustaches attractive and youthful (no small task!)
