Responses and Feedback.


After discussing and presenting my project ideas, research and developments to a small group, I recieved some really constructive, and helpful research from each other member, in a structured format, as follows...

Feeback From: Matt Tucker.

Subject Matter: Moustaches.

Appropraite Themes of Research within Subject Matter: Celebrities/Visual Research.

General Feeback of Presentation (was the presentation clear/ identified ways to move forward/ would more research have been beneficial...etc...?): Really interesting visual work collected so far- good ideas.
-explore relation to class, upper? bias?
Methods of Categorisation/Organisation Research: 1. Size 2. Colour 3. Style 4. Age 5. Length.
Additional Research Required: Primary- Photos of beards/moustaches? Opinions on moustaches.
Secondary- Relation to media? Visual research.
Issues raised: More Photos.
Action to be taken: Love the idea of a tip book for keeping a great moustache.

Methods to gather appropraite: -style -time/era of the popular moustaches.
General Feedback on Presentation: Good knowledge of moustaches, well presented with facts/opinions/images.
Methods for categories/organising research: 1. Wealth/status 2. Length 3. Shape 4. Style 5. Age
Additional Research Required: Primary- History of the moustache Secondary- Gather images of moustaches within design.
Action to be taken: Take the research collected and start to create moustaches in design (e.g, timeline, blueprints).

General feedback and presentation: Presentation was clear with a healthy body of research- need to choose a direction.
Methods for categories/ organising research: 1. Colour 2. Thickness/Size 3. Style 4. Age
Additional Research Required: Primary- Take photos to see what current moustaches are fashionable. Secondary- Look at trend-setting celebrity moustaches.
Action to be taken: Choose a direction to focus on.
Feedback From: Lisa Whittaker

Appropriate themes of research within subject matter: Facts, figures, words. Celebrity moustaches. History.
Methods to gather appropraite: Product placement, internet, opinions.
General feedback on presentation: Very clear, obviously knows the subject!
Promote moustache, creating "how to have a wonderful moustache".
Methdos for categories/organised research: 1. Most negative- positive opinions 2, alaphabetical types of moustache 3. celebrity moustaches.
Additional Research Required: Primary- Photographing moustaches? In college.
Issues Raised: Has idea of what she wants to do.

Appropraite themes of research within subject matter: Celebrities, Movember, Nationalities, Prejudice?, Portryal in media.

Methods to gather appropraite: Surveys, preference, secondary images, movember handbook.

General feedback on presentation: Clear and concise.

Methods for categories/organising research: 1. Iconic moustaches 2. Opinions, negative- positive 3. Nationalities

Additional Research Required: Primary- Own imagery perhaps?- Photographs, Illustrations.

Issues Raised: "how to grow your moustache", portrayal in media, negative connotations.

Methods for categorisation/organising research: 1. Size of moustache 2. Shape of moustache 3. Age of style.

Additional Research Required: Primary- Photographs of non- famous people with moustaches.

Issued Raised: Rate moustaches by factors- size, shape, thickness, how to shape your moustache.


I found the feedback, as aforementioned, really helpful, and look forward to developing my moustache theme into a product suitable for a graphic medium. Possible considerations I have developed from this progress review include:

-100 reasons why moustaches are marvellous guidebook.
-100 images of moustaches poster.
-100 moustache post-it notes for moustache etiquette.
-100 moustache limericks/quotes/stories.
