THE BRIEF


Design a series of 5 film posters for Darren Aronofsky's 'Black Swan', to attract young, contemporary film fans ages 18-30, and which are appropriate to the visual themes and subject matter of the film.


CONSIDERATIONS


- Visual consistency
- Experimentation with design outcomes
- Design media (photography, vector, screenprint, hand rendered)
- Print production methods
- Format & Scale
- Balancing both typographic and illustrative designs


PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS


- Amount achievable in the time I have left- minimal amount, can achieve good results (quality over quantity).
- Conceptual realisation of visual metaphors/meanings with the film.
- Visual communication and my effectiveness in both type and image driven ideas.


BACKGROUND


- Re-watch film and make note of seminal moments
- Research production of film
- Research the history of Swan Lake (ballet) and visual representations (Russian Graphic design- Rodchenko?)


MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS


- Produce an extensive body of research into the film 'Black Swan' and 'Swan Lake' (ballet) and their visual representations.
- Produce a series of 5 poster designs that work as part of a series.
- Produce a wide range of experimental designs and design developments.


DELIVERABLES


- Series of 5 'Black Swan' alternate film posters.
