Design Developments: Communication is a Virus.

With the group sucessfully spending the day completing our product (Yafet and Liam creating the illustrative design, Sadie working on template and myself working on words and text) we were able to progress to the further development stages of print and presentation development- but before we could do this, I had fill in a few gaps in the book design...

creating the contents/introductory page, as well as the front and back covers...

We wanted to keep a visual consistency, so kept it very simple and bold. I was really pleased with the design outcomes that were produced- and feel blessed to be working with such talents and hard-working people.

We returned to the first week of the design project when we originally considered creating a children's book. Whilst the idea has progressed and developed a great deal since this time, we decided to emulate the same sort of bold, semiotic info-graphics style- keeping the images bold to easily and fluently visually communicate and with the same soft burnt orange and dark grey colouring for a slightly softer variation on the commonly used red and black combination.

I then went on to print the design onto sheets of cartridge paper stock- a warm off-white colour with slight texture for a more tactile and memorable reading experience...

(to be completed with a pamphlet stitch tomorrow...each page is to an A5 portrait format)

As we didn't use the InDesign programme due to time constraints, it was left to me to work out the order and layout of print for the pamphlet-stitch booklet. A little complicated at first and with a few odd prints to line my bin, my brain has certainly been tested this evening.

I then went on to print some hand-out poster designs which we will distribute to the public tomorrow, in hopes to spread the mischeif and encouragement of playing April Fools' pranks...

Along with sticker designs to fix the rolled tubes...

As aforementioned, I'm pleased with the designs, but particularly the bulk of work we have created in such short an amount of time!
There are a few things I would alter and change if we had the oppurtunity- small details (such as adding folio numbers to the pages- foolish moment), but now I will go on to re-produce the content, concept and method of delivery boards to suit our current design, and create a powerpoint presentation in preperation for Friday's presentation, and the anticipation to recieve feedback for the project and final design concepts.
