Design for the Day: Communication is a Virus.

After a weekend filled with brainstorming and quick designs, we decided to re-group and discuss what our next plan of action was.
Although we liked the poster designs, we felt that they would be a little unusual in the outdoor enviroments, and wouldn't blend in as well as we would have hoped.

We began to brainstorm other possibilities...
Ideas and Development

-Fake book signing
-Unfamiliar signs in familiar places
-Start a new religion
-Start a band
-Start a new phase
-Start a new craze
-Product development- false advertising and branding
Mock- up designs for the front cover of a newspaper, slip on covers and walk out- very naturalistic and subtle

The product development idea interested us, so we decided to persue futher ideas...

HEALTH AND BEAUTY

-anti-wrinkle cream (wipes out all wrinkles in just three days!)
-nasal spray that reduces the cartilidge in your nasal passage (and makes your nose smaller!)

TECHNOLOGY

-head set translates radiowaves to your pen- writes down your thoughts.
-fingernail mouse for scrolling.

Again, this idea felt a little stilled and slow (certainly not helped by the Monday-morning feeling!). Worried that focusing on one idea alone may increase our risk of not infact answering the brief, we again explored further ideas...

"LIVING IN A BOX/THINKING INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE BOX"

-Use a box with stencilled writing on e.g "fragile: high quality apple products inside" to test the human behaviour, integrity and curiousness of the outside world- and, of course, how effective our lies are.

We would write intising messages on the boxes and leave them in specific areas to see how people respond to them, and whether their integrity is intact, or whether they might want to get their hands on the product inside.

We would give each box a different message, and situated in context (eg, antique vases outside the museum, wild animals outside a zoo, etc.) but could test their varying effectiveness by surveying them in different locations, at different times of the day, and with slightly different wording upon each of them.

After a quick chat with tutor, Amber, we felt a lot clearer about our ideas- as we had clearly got lost and stuck along the way.

She seemed keen for us to go back to our original poster idea, as she felt it was strong- but we needed to find a tighter niche- therefore, we decided to keep it within the uni building- easily assecible and by no means illegal to post notices (a relief from our minds).

Instead of worrying too much about the deadline, we have just decided to work as hard as we can and develop as many designs as we can for the progress tutorial on Friday, and analyse which lies have worked, and which havent- and which are apporpropriate, and then go on to select the best to apply to a graphic design format.
