Design Practice III//James Maxwell Logo Submission.

The submission sent through to James for feedback from today's design developments- progressing with the brand concept.

From email feedback initially given by James, we discussed the fact that it's difficult to specify James' chosen profession, as for legal reasons, he can't be described as an Architect (official training and RIBA examinations are required, as a Doctor would have to study for a PhD, etc.), and his influences are Interior, Architectural and Design- based. Therefore, I have decided to create a range of business cards for each sector, all working as separate entities, yet also working together as a set (shown in PDF above), which could also be applied to over a range of print collateral such as the printed portfolio, letterheads, envelopes, and more.

The range include: Architecture, Interiors, Design, A student card (for graduate networking) and a general card for all non-specific study opportunities and networking events.

I also chose to use a variety of greyscale tones to reflect James' sophisticated design work, along with his love for robust and industrial materials such as concrete, and also to leave scope, and not to detract attention from his work, as colour may have otherwise done.

This afternoon, I sent along a copy of the proposed designs to James, (see email above) and really hope they go down well. I think, at this stage, it's certainly the strongest design conceptually, and feel that it could be visually communicated really effectively.
