Design Practice III//Studio Workshop Task.

The full written exercise from Friday's studio workshop session, looking at ways to prioritise level 6, an initial insight into brief writing and deciding what we want to achieve from our portfolio and design practice throughout the year, all writing information and personal views as shown below.

//

PRIORITIES

1. CONFIDENCE IN MY ABILITIES AND SELF BELIEF
No- one will believe in either myself or my work if I don't actively have belief in myself.

2. LIVE BRIEFS
Demonstrate my ability to keep to a deadline, and, hopefully, to meet the wants of the specific project client(s).

3. EXPLORATION OF EDITORIAL DESIGN
Experimentation and the development of editorial design to expand and diversify my design portfolio.

4. EXAMPLES OF WORK THAT REFLECT MY PERSONALITY AND HUMOUR
Define my "style" of working and design as a means of visual communication to potential clients and employers upon graduation to reflect my chosen areas of designs, and to fit into a studio environment/work as readily as possible.

5. EVIDENCE OF INTEREST AND PLEDGE TO BECOMING AN ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGNER
Give evidence of my interests within ethics and sustainability within design by actively demonstrating this throughout my work in the way of using sustainable materials, and highlighting matters of worldly importance, such as in my proposed honey bee product design/packaging brief.

6. IS MY FMP CONCEPT TOO UNREALISTIC- OR CAN IT BE ACHIEVED?
Define and strategically plan the course of my FMP project, and discuss potential planning research and practical outcomes to see whether or not my ambitions for the module can be realised.

7. WILL MY INTROVERTED NATURE HOLD ME BACK FROM GETTING A JOB?
Although it's in my nature, and I know something that will never change completely, will my apparent shyness hold me back by potentially putting employers off me during interviews as introversion can sometimes be mistaken for surliness or being withholding?

8. SHOULD I "PLAY THE FIELD" OR STICK TO WHAT I KNOW IN REGARDS TO DESIGN STUDIOS?
Does loyalty necessarily result in employment, or is it worth making as many industry contacts as possible before graduation?

9. RESEARCH STUDIOS WITHIN THE UK AND OVERSEAS FOR POTENTIAL INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE/EMPLOYMENT UPON GRADUATION
Explore various (branding) Graphic Design studios throughout the UK and overseas to develop a network of contacts for potential communication/employment opportunities upon graduation.

10. RESEARCH UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY (FMP) AND DEVELOP EXISTING SKILLS
Develop and broaden my skills, specialising in underwater photography for the purposes of documenting coral reefs in Egypt for my FMP which promotes the rebuilding of coral reefs around the world.
