Design Production for Digital//Top 10//Ident 1/Slide.

This afternoon and this evening, along with my title sequence, I have been working on Ident #1, 'Slide'- the initial idea for my ident series, and, what I assumed to perhaps be the most basic of the series- however, I'm so far not entirely happy with the results, and may need to look for a change of direction- documented below is what I have worked on so far.

Quick initial test- far too slow in comparison with the other designs made so far, and the actual motion of penguins themselves- it looks really forced and not very smooth.

Obviously didn't change the position of the shadow before I went to render... here, trying out a "double jump" but again- it looks too slow and a little like the penguin is flying- needs to be closer to the shadow to communicate more of a "jump" motion- more subtle rotations and incline in the curve of the path would work more effectively.

Trying out multiple penguins in the jump- definitely works better with the uniformity of the penguins, and keeps the eye focused, though not very consistent with my other idents and title sequence design- where only one penguin is featured. Made the CBBC logo a little larger too- but still looks ugly and misplaced at the end- the mountains look good at the start of the sequence, but at the end there's just too much going on- though not really enough time to fade out/make a transition to a new background- a less decorative background may be needed- but then perhaps a new idea? Slide wouldn't be very easily communicated without ice.

Another inconsistency noticed- the size of the penguins! In my already-made idents 'diet' and 'dive' the penguin character's scale is much larger- again, which works in those idents, but due to this background, the size of the penguin greatly affects the "realism" of the scene (I've never seen a penguin bigger than a mountain...). Definite new idea is needed... back to the very behind drawing board...
