Design Practice II//Product/Range/Distribution//Bookmark Designs.

Working with my castle illustration I had previously generated (which I am now strongly considering using as my cover design for The Grimms Fairy Tales book/Audio CD cover/Poster, etc, as "the castle" appears to be a staple throughout nearly all Grimms tales and is a perfect metaphor for the "happily ever after" so many of the stories tell and, almost "promote") to create a bookmark design to go with the reading scheme pack to be distributed to children 9-11 in 200 schools around the UK each month (with a new children's classic book each month).

Again, keeping to the black and white colour palette, I worked to a simple design that would be bold and easily visually associated with the book, and, more importantly, acting as a fun free gift.

Adding the title to the front of the book mark, this will act as a reminder to read, as well as the bookmark dimensions being 20mm taller than the book itself, the cloud is positioned so as to sit outside the top of the book perfectly.

To add a high-spec feel to the design, and that the bookmark is something to keep hold of and be "treasured" (therefore, another push towards encouragement to read), as well as keeping with the black and white colour palette, I will go on to duplex the design so that a strip of black card sits between the two outer white edges.
